OIC of South Florida: SOAR Young Adult Reentry Program Highlights

Meet Keandre Heard and Tony Ubri!

It is with great pleasure that OIC of South Florida (OIC-SFL) celebrate the accomplishments of two of its former reentry program participants.  Both Keandre Heard and Toni Ubri enrolled into to the OIC SOAR program.  These two gentlemen were committed to partnering with OIC- SFL and to investing in their own future.  A future filled with opportunities, thanks to funding by the U.S. Department of Labor and to the dedicated reentry team at OIC of South Florida.

Through effective case management, customized career planning, vocational training tracks and job placement preparations were made to ensure both Keandre and Toni’s career readiness success.  While Keandre received certifications in Customer Services and Sales Professionals, Toni completed his certification as a Powered Industrial Truck Operator.  To add to Keandre’s marketability, he also earned his associate degree from Miami-Dade College in Computer Science.  Mr. Keandre Heard received assistance from the OIC team to obtain employment as a part-time school mentor and tutor.  While Mr. Toni Ubri is on track of having a successful “mobile massage” business, after enrolling and earning his massage license as well.

In preparation for the 2019 SOAR program closure celebration, the OIC Communications team connected with these two gentlemen to reflect on their experiences with OIC-SFL.  Listen to their stories.
