The Administration of President Donald Trump has prioritized public safety, crime prevention, and improving reentry, as demonstrated by Executive Order 13826  establishing the Federal Interagency Council on Crime Prevention and Improving Reentry and the signing of the First Step Act, inclusive of the Second Chance Act of 2007 Reauthorization. These and other actions have set forth the federal government’s role in assisting in breaking the cycle of crime through a comprehensive strategy that addresses a range of issues, including mental health, vocational training, job creation, after-school programming, substance abuse, mentoring, and much more.

To help national, state, and local practitioners, administrators, policymakers, employers, communities, families and individuals, and others in their efforts to reduce crime and improve reentry, this page highlights key federal resources across the key topic areas.
